I love sharing what I've learned... Check out this great information about Calcium from Jay Kordich one of my favorite teachers.
It's Calcium. Note: (throw your calcium supplements away if they're derived from calcium carbonate....these are rocks!) Why is Calcium so important? Let me tell you, when you have a calcium deficiency, you'll feel miserable, but don't worry, you can get a powerful infusion of calcium just by juicing. Recipe is below. What are the Symptoms of a Calcium Deficiency? A deficiency in calcium can lead to numbness in fingers and toes, muscle cramps, convulsions, lethargy, loss of appetite, and abnormal heart rhythm. Finding calcium in vegetables and fruits is a concern for vegans, or those on a raw food diet if they're not ingesting good amounts of dark leafy greens in their daily diet. Calcium is necessary for the growth and maintenance of strong teeth and bones, nerve signaling, muscle contraction, and secretion of certain hormones and enzymes. Where do we get the BEST (and most usable/absorbable) Calcium? Here's our top 7: 1. Collard Greens 2. Kale. 3. Turnip Greens 4. Garlic 5. Arugula 6. Broccoli 7. Spinach If you can't juice or blend your greens, then there's a supplement we recommend from New Chapter called Bone Strength. This calcium supplement is not derived from 'rocks' (limestone) which has been the protocol for decades. Why are we eating rocks? This is not something we should be consuming, in my opinion. Let's get our calcium from foods such as the top foods listed above! Also, dark leafy greens are high in magnesium, another mineral that helps keep the calcium in balance. The best way to get these powerhouse minerals in our bodies is to consume them in the most absorbable, usable way...through the juice! High Calcium Tonic: 1 cup Broccoli 3 large Kale leaves. 2 large Collard greens 1 inch fresh Ginger or Turmeric root 2 Limes without skin 1 Cucumber (or 5 ribs of Celery) 2 Green Apples This tonic makes about 1 liter, which is what I have always recommended. 1 liter of juice per day is where we find the best results. You'll sleep better, you'll feel more relaxed and your teeth and gums will become stronger, as well as your bones will feel stronger overall. ~Jay Kordich
